Connect? is open-content, meaning it can be collaboratively created, and modified and extended for a variety of purposes.
Contributors are those who ‘share back’ improvements they have made to Connect? . These can either be general improvements or versions for specific audiences. Interest has been expressed by community members in making versions of Connect? for
- Canada
- Australia
- youth and young adults
We are looking for people to adapt and extend Connect? so it is useful in other denominations.
So, how do you become an ‘editor’ ? Included here is both a ‘general idea’ and ‘technical’ explanation.
General idea of how you edit and share
Basically, you:
- you edit a document
- you share your version with the community
- the community comments and/or uses your version. In terms of what the Connect? maintainer (John de Beer) does, either
- for an update: If you make changes / suggestions to the main version of Connect? , then John de Beer will review these changes and integrate them into the ‘bleeding edge’ version of the document. Every month of so a version will be ‘released’ to the public. This will include all the accepted changes and improvements. OR
- for a branch: If your changes essentially create a different, not just updated, version, then you have created a ‘branch’. For example, an Australian branch. Unless you have particular need not to do so, the download page at connect-course.org will include a list of links to specialized branches.
Technically How to Edit and Share Your Edits
This could change if potential authors find this cumbersome.
However, currently, the plan is:
- Download an RTF (editable) version of Connect? from the download page
- Turn ‘Track Changes’ on in your word processor.
- Make your changes and save your document
- Post a new message here on the extranet In this message, click on ‘attach file’ and attach your file, then save your new message. Your changes will be reviewed and probably included in the ‘official’ Connect? version.
Visible Project Management
The extranet provides transparent access to the KLESIS project management
- Overview: see all recent activity
