As Bishop Suffragan in the Episcopal Diocese of Mass and Christian educator of some 40 years, I am always eager to learn of materials that encourage small group learning and sound theolgical reflection. I am also eager to find materials that lead people to understand more deeply their call to discipleship. Such a call is of course not an end itself just as any well presented program is not an end itself. The proof of formation materials and processes is in how they help further God’s mission of reconciling love.

“Connect”, the first of three programs available to the Church on the web is a gift to parishes who wish to educate, form, stir up disciples in Christ and further God’s mission in the world. It is inviting of persons who are inquiring, seeking, and interested in community. It is an important first step toward understanding and answering Jesus’ call to us. Rooted in Anglican theology and our sacramental life, Connect is an excellent course for persons new to the Episcopal Church. I welcome it as an important part of formation for those preparing for adult reaffirmation of faith though Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation of Baptismal Promises.
